How To Play The Melody (Tune) Of A Song With One Finger
Musicians refer to a particular style of playing as the “single finger” technique. To non-musicians, that sounds a lot like the “hunt and peck” technique – using only one finger to plunk out a tune.
But that’s not the case. By single finger we mean playing the melody alone – not filling under it with chords or octaves or 3rds or 6ths or any harmony at all – just letting the tune stand alone.

I hope you noticed that it is best if you CONTRAST the single finger style with an occasional block chord of some kind. That creates much more interest and doesn’t allow the tune to get boring. We have covered block chord techniques in other videos including http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7ek-P3CFjI
Thanks — see you tomorrow with more good stuff about piano playing!
