I Want to Learn Piano! One Students’ Search For a Way To Do It Right
Written by: David
Music may very well be one of the most mysterious concepts on this planet. Pretty much everyone likes one kind of music or another, not to mention that more often than not music inspires people, fills them with emotion, and even gives them something to think about: despite just being a combination of sounds. There are probably hundreds of instruments people learned how to play out there, but few of them can compare to the majesty of the piano. Every single keystroke brings you into a world of wonder, sounding utterly divine, putting you at peace of mind.
As you can probably tell, I have always wanted to learn piano, but I haven’t been able to get around to it for various reasons until recently. However, as I tried to look into how to get a teacher and basically how I could learn to become a piano player, I realized that I can’t be the only one to go through this complicated process. Yes, as I learned it the hard way, becoming a piano player entails more than just walking into a piano teacher’s place and asking to be taken on as a student (although I’m sure there are some who do it that way).
I’m not a person who has a whole lot of time on his schedule, which discouraged me at first. However, after having learned about online teachers, I thought to myself “Why not see if there are any piano teachers online?”: and it was a great move, opening doors for me which I never even knew existed. As I scoured the deepest reaches of the internet I have actually come across hundreds of people who are offering to teach others how to play musical instruments online.
But then I wondered: how can I be taught something like music over the internet? Well, as it happens there are actually a couple of ways teachers go about it. There are some teachers who are going to be using a webcam and a chatting program in order to have some kind of live interaction with you, which is great seeing as how it brings the persona factor back in there, not to mention that you’ll be able to have live feedback. For more autonomous players, there are teachers who prefer to make weekly videos, teaching various lessons, tips and tricks to those who want to learn piano.
So where should you go if you want to learn piano like I do but don’t have much time (and money) to spare? Well, you could of course look for online piano teachers using your search engine of choice, which is what I did, but let me warn you: it may take a while before you find a trustworthy and suitable teacher. There is a better option however, and I ran across it a couple of weeks after starting my search: PlayPiano.com: if you want to learn piano, every single trick and technique for how to play that grand instrument, then that website is your best bet. Just head on over there and see for yourself the kind of knowledge they have to offer: meanwhile, I’ll get back to my practice, because I WANT TO LEARN PIANO!
