Learn To Play 11th Chords In Your Left Hand On The Piano
11th chords, by definition, contain the 11th note of the diatonic scale, and include the 9th, 7th, and 5th – as well as the root. The 3rd is omitted because it clashes with the 11th. To play this all in one hand we have to figure out some special fingering, and it’s a two-step process. First, we play a low root of the chord and sustain it with our sustain pedal. Then we swing up to second inversion of the chord and play the rest of the chord.
