Chord Changes: Simple Ways To Make A Tune Sound Great!
One of the things I loved as I was growing up was the way the chords changed in songs as the tune was progressing. Chord changes are really the “stuff” of music – the tonal environment of a song. Watch this short video and you will get some ideas for what you might do along the same lines:
You will notice that I used many chords in the left hand to match the melody, and each chord change re-defined the melody and make it fresh in it’s own way.
I encourage you to try a similar exercise: Create a simple motif – 3 or 4 notes is enough – then see how many different chords you can match to the same motif.
