On this great DVD course you will learn to play and arrange four of the best-loved gospel hymns that everybody knows and loves.

You’ll learn to arrange “The Old Rugged Cross” using lush extended chords, half-step slides, transitional diminished 7th chords, and a wonderful “waterfall effect” you can use in the intro or ending or both. You’ll have sheet music of the original music, of course, right in front of you while you watch Duane add to the written part on the DVD course.

Next we take up “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and learn to create fantastic substitute chords that re-define the melody in a way that is hauntingly beautiful.

Then we learn a version of “Just a Closer Walk With Thee”, where we do some “blues moves” that add a real rhythmical feel to the song, as well as some great 2-handed “bluesy” chords!

Last, we learn a moving & dramatic version of “Battle Hymn Of The Republic” with exciting octave runs in the left hand & a drum intro and lots of other creative stuff.

Each song has runs, fills, and techniques you’ll love and can apply to lots of other songs as well. And you’ll see each note, each chord, close-up on the DVD so you’ll know exactly how to play each technique in each song!

Note: If you can’t read music out of a hymnbook, don’t take these courses! Take “Playing Hymns & Gospel Songs” or some more basic course such as “Chord Piano”.
